This weekend

This weekend did not go as I had planned at all!! I imagined the beach and barbeques but instead on Friday I woke up with a scratchy throat and not feeling well but told myself...it's Friday and a 3 day weekend...I can do this! Well, I couldn't. I ended up leaving work early and feeling pretty awful the whole weekend. I have a terrible, hacking cough, body aches, and have pretty much been in bed or on the couch all weekend--not fun. Damian has taken such good care of me and the kids. He's cleaned, cooked, taken the kids swimming and outside to play, visited his parents, taken the kids to church, and even made me mashed potatoes. Definitely my go-to comfort food when I'm sick. We are certainly blessed! I still feel pretty crummy but with only 9 school days left in our school year...I have to do this--hacking cough and voice or no voice!!

This weekend has also been a sad one for me. It's been one year Saturday since my Grandma Goldie passed away. These are some pictures of when we were in Indiana last May. The pure innocence, joy, and laughter on these cousin's faces while swinging warms my heart. We gathered to remember the life and love of my grandma and the family gathering together from near and far was something I will never forget. This barn brings back so many memories of my childhood spent with my grandparents. The pic of my sister and I with sweet Noah reminds me that although my grandparents are no longer here on Earth their legacy lives on in their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

I'm looking forward to finishing up this school year, it's a little overwhelming but I know I'll survive. I always do! All of my lesson planning, data charts, and report cards are finished, so I just have to keep my students calm, engaged, and have some fun! We also have Max's Preschool graduation and Emma's ballet recital next week. Not to mention I have got to get my end of the year teacher gifts together for the kid's teachers.
